Welcome

SOUTH DEVON WOMEN'S AID is affiliated to Women's Aid Federation England and as such shares their aims, which are:

1. SOUTH DEVON WOMEN'S AID supports all women regardless of
age, race, beliefs or sexuality, who are suffering domestic abuse, that is, physical, sexual and emotional cruelty from someone close to them.

2. To encourage women to determine their own futures and to help them
to achieve this, whether this involves starting a new life elsewhere or returning home.

3. To recognise and care for the emotional and educational needs of
Children living in the refuge.

4. To offer support, advice and help to any woman who asks for it,
whether or not she is living in the refuge and also to offer support and aftercare to any women who have left the refuge.

5. To educate and inform the public, the media, the police, the courts,
social services, and other authorities, with respect to all forms of domestic violence, mindful of the fact that this is the result of the general position of women in our society.
